There are great reasons to make cross-platform apps — to start, they're cross-platform — but it's just not who we are. Founded as a Mac software company in , our joy at Panic comes from building things that feel truly, well, Mac-like. Long ago, we created Coda, an all-in-one Mac web editor that broke new ground. But when we started work on Nova, we looked at where the web was today, and where we needed to be.
It was time for a fresh start. It's new, hyper-fast, and flexible, with all the features you want: smart autocomplete, multiple cursors, a Minimap, editor overscroll, tag pairs and brackets, and way, way more. Here's a little editor story for fun. During beta we found some bugs in Apple's text layout engine that we just could not fix.
Our solution? Writing our own text layout manager… from scratch. Not only did this fix the bugs, but it also boosted our editor's performance. We're not messing around! But even the best text engine in the world means nothing unless you actually enjoy spending your time in the app.
So, how does Nova look? You can make Nova look exactly the way you want, while still feeling Mac-like. Bright, dark, cyberpunk, it's all you. Plus, themes are CSS-like and easy to write. Nova can even automatically change your theme when your Mac switches from light to dark mode. You can easily create build and run tasks for your projects.
We didn't have them in Coda, but boy do we have them now. They're custom scripts that can be triggered at any time by toolbar buttons or keyboard shortcuts. Imagine building content, and with the single click of a button watching as Nova fires up your local server, grabs the appropriate URL, and opens a browser for you, instantly. Just think of the time you'll save. Nova supports separate Build , Run , and Clean tasks. It can open a report when run.
And the scripts can be written in a variety of languages. We've bundled in extremely useful tools to help you get your work done quickly and efficiently. They're all fast and native too, of course. The New Tab button doesn't just open a fresh document.
Click it to quickly access a feature-packed Transmit file browser , or a super-convenient Prompt terminal , all right inside Nova. Meanwhile, Nova's sidebar is packed with power.
A local file browser. A remote file browser. Find across your project's files. A symbol navigator. Text clips. Task reports. And file tracking and publishing. And you can drag your favorite tools into the sidebar dock at the top for one-click access. Nova also has Git source control tools built-in.
Initialize a repo. Fetch and pull. Stage and unstage. You know the drill. We don't have built-in diff yet, but it's on our list! Git status is available both in the editor and the sidebar. And a useful "Show Last Change for Line" pop-up explains commits. A Nova extension can do lots of things, like add support for new languages, extend the sidebar, draw beautiful new themes and syntax colors, validate different code, and much more.
Even better, extensions are written in JavaScript, so anyone can write them. And Nova includes built-in extension templates for fast development.
And we're here to help. Nova has a whole host of settings. We have easily customizable key bindings. We have custom, quickly-switchable workspace layouts. And we have loads of editor tweaks, from matching brackets to overscroll. And if there's something you need to work that Nova doesn't have, just let us know! Nova is always changing, always growing. It features a new Debug sidebar, a Debugger in the console, breakpoints, and more. It's really great.

I have reinstalled Transmit 4 as while 55 is smarter and no doubt more improved, it is essentially useless if I cannot properly monitor transfers.
Please can Panic address this issue which is fundamental to so many of us. Very nice work. Any chance of getting AFP support? Great product, reasonable pricing, but it does leave a bitter taste in the mouth for those of use who bought Transmit 4 in the last year or so.
Please add me to the growing list of users who really miss the file transfers window. Being able to drill down into the pending and completed list was very helpful. I would love this to be a pane as before, not a separate window.
The pop-up is of little use. Very odd that the live tab is the one greyed out, while all the others are bright! This is backwards and reversed from tabs in Safari, Sublime Text,Path Finder etc etc where the live tab is the bright one. Either way the contrast difference between the two is very little. You used to be able to double-click in the tab bar to add a new tab. Please bring it back. It was the first thing I missed.
Regards Rob. I love transmit but everytime I update I have issues mounting drives, I am trying to figure out what happened, now I cant mount amazon drives, others yes but amazon no. Installed Sierra. Bought Transmit 5. Downloaded Transmit 4, no crashes so far. Will stay on T4 till I hear T5 is stable on Sierra.. Awesome update. Thank you so much and keep up the good work. Hello, I found the subject of your article very interesting. Plus it takes more steps to resume. Please bring back the old Activity… it can just be the functionality.
I would still love a keyboard shortcut for the Synchronize command which would remove my need for one of the buttons in the toolbar , something requested since the early days of v4. Is this normal? Is there something planned? I have noticed that the latest version crashes a lot on high sierra and it crashes a lot when you queue a bunch of items and do another one. The old version would handle it well and allow us to modify the queue order easily impossible to do on this version.
Moreover, any refresh, moves, etc would be prioritized over transfers allowing us to edit folders and move files while transfers are ongoing.
This one just puts everything on hold until previous queue is over. All-in-all none of the new features amount to the level of broken things from the previous version. The minimum would have been to issue a product that works better and has the same functionalities as the previous version at the least. Fix this asap please as I feel robbed. Hi transmit. I pinged you guys via twitter a couple of months ago. Can you please assist? I will keep an eye on the future development though. Opening Transmit5 not only always autoconnect and then always opens the last folder even if you have already double-clicked to start opening a different folder.
Trashing the prefs as panic support suggests seems to be a fix for days, then it just goes back to opening automatically. Also, why is the inspector a dockable window but the transfers window NOT dockable on the main window? Seems a really odd choice to allow dockable windows then not allow one of them to dock.
Still awaiting response form your tech support. We have a lab with 16 licenses and a need to manage the lab computer with a deployment system Filewave.
We use AD, so everyone logs in with their own credentials. We need to license the machine, not the user. The support ticket have been open since Nov 2. I had a productive back and forth going with your support team through September 12th. I understand how that goes. I was told they would need to talk to developers and report back to me about status of issue. I hate posting this because support was really helpful when they finally got to my ticket July 28th submission but this is just ridiculous.
I bought Transmit 5 and signed up for a B2 account for a specific job. I need to know some sense of the timeline for eventual repair or whether this is something that will never get corrected. Very surprised by the lack of response. I submitted my original ticket on July 28th. I wholeheartedly regret upgrading to High Sierra since I can no longer mount my servers as volumes.

Thanks for making great software. Great work…again. But are there are people who experience the same problem? All that said, I expect to be happy with Transmit for the next couple years. I really love this one.

Maybe you ought to try being grateful that Panic provides such high quality tools at really reasonable prices. And they have a great and fun attitude about it to boot. How would YOU feel if you introduced a great new product to your clients and all they did was bitch at you? I hope that gets added soon!
One more time, very good job! Could you tell me please which is the font you used for titles like Disk or features on T4 page specs? I was gonna file a bug that the truck was missing cup holders, but I see you got that covered too.
Great work! Absolutely fucking amazing. It feels like a completely new app, with everything I already had in place in Transmit 3, only polished to a mirror finish and spun into OSX Super work kids. One problem I see though: Transmit 4 triggers my new MacBook Pro to switch to the M graphics card, cutting my battery life in half when using it.
I guess back to Transmit 3 for now…. Glad to see the speed increase. That is why I switched to ForkLift. Just load-tested my shiny new upgrade by deleting all the crud left behind on my iDisk by Backup. Great upgrade. I use this daily and am already impressed with the software. You guys really have an overachieving problem there at Panic.

I must be dreaming. I just received your promo email and bought it right away. Once in a while I was using Transmit but not as in the beginning. Thanx so much for this big upgrade, thanx so much for all your apps, you are really helping the web developer community with this app!
This is just a great release, its been so great, bought it right up this morning! You guys did an amazing job! Take a well-deserved break and then onto Coda 2 if I may say so Bought this morning as soon as I saw the annc. Nice — the breadcrumbs will save time and prevent some errors. I do think the tabs need more work, though: it should be easier to distinguish the active tab from an inactive one at a short glance. I absolutely love that you can mount volumes through Finder.
First Unison 2 bought instantly , then Transmit 4 buying now. Faithful since T2, I purchased T4 even before downloading: a sign of sure confidence in your work. Thanks for this great new version which has just pushed ExpanDrive into the wastebin!! You guys did an absolutely phenomenal job with this new release! Dunno if anyone has mentioned it yet, but NICE little update on the app icon too! Guys this is outstanding … good features fine UI … now please make me spend more money on a Coda update :.

Transmit 4 looks great. Never bought an update within 5 minutes after the anouncement by mail. An idea would be syncing Sites between Transmit and Coda. Apart from that do I really love Coda! Both Coda and Cyberduck are among the listed import candidates. Nice job Panic! Would be a nice Dropbox replacement!
Oh, yummy! You guys ARE the best! This is just ridiculously beautiful. Not only does it work amazing but the interface changes are just gorgeous. Like someone said, you guys were my favorite before but this time, you definitely outdid yourselves. My colleagues using FileZilla fell of their chairs today :D. Nice looking update and the speed increase is awesome!
However, why the heck did you axe the sidebar?? Places is a very poor replacement for the much better sidebar — especially when it comes to quickly switching through folders both on your computer and on the network. Love the upgrade.
I use transmit constantly to maintain my websites through godaddy. Can you help me with what is Amazon S3? Can that replace godaddy hosting? Would it? Also, is there a better way to keep my favorites in sync, without using mobile me? I split time between 3 computers. Can I use drop box to do this? Maybe this should have been a tech support question. Great release. Bought it in about 2 minutes upon release. Keep up the solid work. What an upgrade! I am through the moon and this is going to make my life as a web developer a lot easier and a lot prettier.

The power progress bar, for instance, is great UI design. Kudos to whoever came up with that! T4 looks awesome!! Chris K: Transmit stores your passwords in the system keychain. How to prevent.
